Community First: A Season of Action and Impact

As we head into the holiday season, we recognize and applaud all the wonderful efforts in our community to help those in need—through food drives, toy donations, and acts of service. These seasonal efforts are a vital expression of care and community spirit.

But here at the Concerned Citizens of Perry – Economic Development Group (CCP-EDG), we’re hearing something deeper from our neighbors, churches, and local partners: the need goes beyond the holidays. Families are grappling with economic hardship and the ripple effects of the recent government shutdown, which may stretch far into the new year.

That’s why we’re focused on long-term support and sustained community resilience.

 Not Competing—Amplifying

Let us be clear: we’re not here to compete with holiday programs. We’re here to amplify them.

By partnering directly with local churches, community leaders, food pantries, and volunteers, we’re launching a strategic, multi-week campaign that not only celebrates the season—but also strengthens Perry’s support systems for the long haul.

 Upcoming Events That Matter

 November 14–15 – Community Beautification

We’ll be painting, decorating, and revitalizing Main Street with the help of local volunteers—including a parolee work program. Transportation and lunch will be provided to all helpers. Every brush stroke brings more pride to our community!

November 22 – Chamber Holiday Market + Gun Raffle

We’ll be present at the Holiday Market with a CCP-EDG table and a gun raffle (generously donated by the Flip Flop Shop in Perry). $10 per ticket | 3 for $25All proceeds support Perry’s citizens and community development.

Plus:• A float in the parade• Music (we’re working on live entertainment!)• A push to encourage civic involvement

December 6 – Perry Christmas Parade + Bag Launch

A huge thank you to Dustin Wasson of South Lake Designs for the parade signage!

On parade day, we also launch our Winter Food Bag Drive—delivering food donation bags to homes throughout Perry. Let’s fill them with love and non-perishables to help neighbors in need this winter.

December 13 – Food Collection Day

We’ll collect the filled bags and deliver them to local churches and food pantries, ensuring donations stay within Perry and reach those facing hard times this winter.

 Why This Matters

This initiative is about more than the holidays—it’s about building a support network that lasts.

We’re working hand-in-hand with local churches and community groups, not just for now, but for the months to come. Together, we’re weathering the storm of economic hardship and government uncertainty.

This is how Perry shows up for Perry.
